- Central Bank and FAS to take first measures against violations in deposit advertising

The Central Bank together with the Federal Antimonopoly Service is preparing the first written recommendations for banks on informing customers about deposit conditions. Mikhail Mamuta, head of the consumer protection service of the Bank of Russia, told Izvestia. According to him, the regulator has already conveyed to market participants the new requirements, but now they are planned to be sent in the form of a letter.
"Before the conclusion of the contract to the client is not always fully and honestly communicated information about the profitability of the deposit. It is not always clear to him that getting the yield is connected with a lot of additional conditions. Indeed, there is such a problem - we see by complaints," - said Mikhail Mamuta.
Nowadays banks can unfairly display information not only in TV or Internet advertisements, but also on their websites or in brochures, and even at the stage of concluding contracts.
As a rule, it is a question of incomplete communication to the client of all parameters of the deal and ambiguous wording in the document, explained the leading analyst on bank ratings agency "Expert RA" Victoria Lukina. For example, when part of the terms and conditions is not presented in the contract - there may be a reference to a document that can be found only on the bank's website. That is why it is important to specify all the details in the same place where it is said about the favorable rate.
