The Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) and the conservative Christian Democratic and Christian Social Union (CDU/CSU) bloc have signed an agreement to form a ruling coalition in Germany after early elections to the Bundestag. This was announced on April 8 by the NTV channel, citing sources in the negotiating circles.

It is specified that the negotiators were able to reach an agreement in principle on the points of the future coalition agreement that caused disagreement.

"Now, as it was said, the matter remains for more minor details. The CDU, CSU and SPD plan to announce the results tomorrow at noon (13:00 GMT)," the statement said.

Early elections to the Bundestag were held in Germany on February 23. The CDU/CSU opposition bloc won, gaining almost 28.6% of the vote. The second place was taken by the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party with 20.8%. The Free Democratic Party (FDP) and the Sarah Wagenknecht Union for Reason and Justice (SSV) failed to enter the Bundestag. With the bloc that won the election, he expects to form a ruling coalition of the SPD. On March 24, the CDU/CSU and the SPD presented proposals for a coalition agreement.
