The US increased duties on Chinese goods to 104%

The US authorities have increased import duties on goods from China to 104%. This was announced on April 8 by Edward Lawrence, a Fox Business channel journalist, with reference to the White House.
"Additional duties of 104% took effect at noon on the East coast of the United States <...> they will start to be charged on April 9th," he wrote on the social network X (ex. Twitter).
It is noted that the tariffs were imposed because China has not lifted its retaliatory measures.
On April 2, US President Donald Trump announced large-scale trade measures: base tariffs of 10% are being introduced for all products supplied to the United States. For the EU, this figure has been raised to 20%, and for China, it was up to 34%. On April 4, China imposed duties of 34% against the United States.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian said on April 7 that the US abuse of duties is economic bullying, damaging not only other countries, but also Washington itself. On the same day, Trump threatened to impose additional duties on goods from China in the amount of 50% from April 9, if China does not abandon retaliatory measures to American tariffs.
