Nebenzia: Russia will not allow negotiations to be used to strengthen the Armed Forces of Ukraine

Russia will not allow the negotiation process to be used to strengthen the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). This was announced on April 8 by the Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the UN Vasily Nebenzya.

"We are ready for an appropriate serious and practical dialogue, but we will not allow anyone to deceive us and directly or indirectly use this negotiation process in the interests of strengthening the military potential of the Kiev regime," he said at a meeting of the UN Security Council on the Ukrainian conflict.

At the same time, Nebenzia noted that intentions become clear when discussions begin on the possibility of using the truce as a time to supply the Ukrainian army with weapons, as well as to pull reserves to the front line.

According to him, the sponsors of the Kiev regime are presenting information about the defeat of military facilities in Ukraine as evidence of the alleged unpreparedness of the Russian Federation for peace. He called the purpose of such statements the undermining of the dialogue between Moscow and Washington and the disruption of possible agreements.

In addition, Nebenzia stressed that the Russian-American dialogue is about finding a sustainable and long-term solution to the conflict. He added that in order to achieve it, it is necessary to eliminate the root causes of the crisis, including the supply of Western weapons to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Break ranks: EU split over Ukraine intensifies

Because of this, Brussels may change the decision-making procedure.

On March 14, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev rejected British Foreign Minister David Lammy's call for a cease-fire in Ukraine without any conditions.

Russian Presidential aide Yuri Ushakov, in turn, said that Moscow considers this call as an attempt to give the Ukrainian Armed Forces time to regroup and rearm. At the same time, he stressed that the Russian position was "brought to the Americans."
