The Syrian Foreign Ministry has decided to change the ambassador in Moscow.

The Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has decided to replace the ambassador in Moscow, and the former head of the diplomatic mission, Bashar al-Jaafari, will be recalled to work at the central office of the diplomatic mission. This was announced on April 8 by a source of Izvestia.
At the same time, it is still unknown who will become the new ambassador, the source said.
Earlier in the day, the media reported on the change of ambassador, linking it to "diplomatic reshuffles." The Syrian Embassy in Moscow confirmed this information, but later the diplomatic mission stated that the embassy's social networks had been hacked, and there was no confirmation of the ambassador's change.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on March 20 that Russian President Vladimir Putin supported the efforts of the Syrian leadership to stabilize the situation in the country as soon as possible. The Russian leader confirmed Russia's readiness to develop practical cooperation with the country's leadership on all issues on the agenda in order to strengthen relations between the two countries.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said last December that Russia was interested in a dialogue with the new Syrian authorities. Moscow plans to discuss not only security issues, but also the regional agenda, he added.
