The number of victims as a result of the collapse of the roof in a club in the Dominican Republic has increased to 18, another 121 people were injured. This was reported on April 8 by the Diario Libre newspaper with reference to the Emergency Operations Center (COE).

"18 people were killed and 121 people were taken to hospitals and clinics in Greater Santo Domingo," the statement said.

COE Director Juan Manuel Mendes said that rescue efforts are continuing.

"We continue to work and look for people under the rubble. We assume that many of them are still alive, and that is why the authorities here will not give up until there is not a single person left under the rubble," the newspaper quoted him as saying.

The collapse of the roof of a nightclub in the Dominican Republic became known earlier that day. The cause of the collapse of the nightclub roof has not yet been established. The incident occurred during the party of the Dominican merengue singer Ruby Perez.
