Every year on April 10, Russia and other countries celebrate Brothers and Sisters Day, dedicated to the special bonds that arise between children from the same family. The holiday serves as a reminder of the value of family ties and warm relations between brothers and sisters. Izvestia has prepared touching postcards and funny pictures for this celebration.

Happy Brothers' Day: touching and funny postcards

Siblings Day appeared in the USA in 1995. Claudia Ewart, a New Yorker who lost her siblings in her youth, suggested celebrating it. As she got older, she decided to honor the memory of her loved ones and at the same time encourage people to appreciate the time spent with their relatives.

Ewart founded the Brother and Sister Day Foundation and announced the creation of a new celebration. April 10, her sister's birthday, was chosen as the date. In 1999, the foundation was transformed into a non-profit organization. Now she is helping to reunite relatives who were separated by circumstances.

In 2000, U.S. President Bill Clinton officially declared April 10 as National Brother and Sister Day. Gradually, the celebration became popular outside the country and gained international status.

The holiday is aimed at strengthening ties within the family, so on this day it is customary to call your brothers and sisters, visit them, spend time together, share news and memories. Some exchange symbolic gifts or arrange family feasts.

The culprits of the celebration also send each other funny greeting pictures on messengers and social networks. Such an image can cheer up the recipient, become an excuse to start a conversation, or remind them of something important and personal that exists only between brothers and sisters.

Happy Sisters Day: heartfelt and funny pictures

In some countries, there are national holidays in honor of siblings. For example, in autumn Nepal hosts the Tihar Festival, dedicated to the victory of light over darkness, good over evil and knowledge over ignorance. This is a large-scale five-day celebration, on the last day of which the sisters draw a tika (a seven-colored sacred sign) on the brothers' foreheads and pray for their well-being, and in return receive gifts.

In India, siblings are honored in the summer, during the Raksha Bandhan festival. On this day, the girls fasten colored bracelets (rakhi) on their brothers' wrists and receive gifts from them. This ritual symbolizes kinship and mutual support.

In European countries, Brothers and Sisters Day is celebrated on March 31. The European Confederation of Large Families proposed to establish the holiday in 2014.

Happy Brothers and Sisters Day: what to wish your beloved brother and sister

Brothers and Sisters Day is a great occasion to remind the perpetrators of the celebration that they are important and loved. Sincere greetings and bright postcards will help you do this. Here are some examples:

"My beloved brother, I congratulate you on the Day of your brother and sister! For me, you are always the strongest fighter, the wisest mentor and the most reliable friend. I wish you to continue to hold your ground.: be the happiest, the healthiest, the most successful and the kindest!"

"Dear sister, I sincerely congratulate you on our common holiday, Brothers and Sisters Day. I am very happy to share this spring day and my whole life with you. I wish you to love with all your heart, laugh until you cry, work for results and relax to the fullest. May fate bring you only pleasant surprises, and everything you plan comes true as if by magic!"

"Congratulations on Brother and Sister Day! You are my children, my pride and support. I'm proud of how you've grown up, and I'm looking forward to seeing what you'll become. I wish you to live in peace with each other and with yourself, appreciate the time spent together, and believe in your bond, which is stronger than metal and stone. May love light your way, and may dreams lead to new horizons!"

"Dear, beloved, congratulations on Brother and Sister Day! Knowing that I have you, my dear bloods, is like winning the lottery and getting the Nobel Prize at the same time. Thank you for your support, for your advice, and for all the adventures we've had together. I wish you a sunny mood, great happiness, the purest love and incredible luck!"
