In the last five years, demand for electricity has been growing at a faster pace in Russia. This was announced on April 8 by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.

"The demand for electricity in Russia has been growing at a faster pace over the past five years, especially in the eastern and southern regions. The structure of its consumption is also changing significantly," he said during the strategic session "Development of the Electric Power Industry."

According to him, on the one hand, there is an active inclusion of new technologies that reduce energy consumption per unit of production as a whole. At the same time, energy-intensive sectors such as electric transport and data centers are being expanded.

Mishustin also noted the use of artificial intelligence and continued electrification of industrial and household devices.

The Prime Minister stressed that the price of electricity in Russia is one of the lowest in the world. He stated that the country's task is to preserve this important advantage for citizens and businesses.

On January 30, Rostec State Corporation announced that RT-Invest Holding, the first Russian power plant to burn household waste, had supplied almost 2 million kW.receipt for the first month of operation. It was specified that the power plant plans to supply 520 million kW.one hour of electricity per year. According to the state corporation, this will be enough to provide electricity to about 80 thousand residents.
