The head of KAMAZ named the degree of localization of the K5 truck
The localization of KamAZ trucks of the K5 generation exceeds 70%. This was stated by Sergey Kogogin, CEO of the Naberezhnye Chelny auto giant, according to the corporate portal "Vesti KAMAZ" on April 8.
According to Kogogin, the cabin and frame of the K5 truck are completely localized, the engine is more than 80%. It is impossible to achieve one hundred percent localization, but already in China and India there is a large base of suppliers who can offer products of high enough quality, he stressed.
"The box, if we talk about the robotic one, is still Chinese. But that's for now. Our own bridge project is under implementation. Thus, today the truck has been localized by more than 70%, and this is a high level. We are currently working with suppliers to ensure that they use domestic raw materials, but trying to do everything ourselves is an unsolvable and thankless task," Kogogin said.
In an interview, the top manager said that the state defense order remains a priority for the company, and now KAMAZ is significantly ahead of schedule. The second most important thing is the main product. It is necessary to expand the K5 line, enter various special equipment factories with this chassis and produce an all—wheel drive heavy vehicle - previously this niche was occupied by Volvo and MAN companies.
Kogogin also shared that there is no shortage of personnel at KAMAZ, since the shortage of people is covered by the workers involved. Another 3-4 thousand people are needed to replace them, but in the current reality they cannot be found in the city, even at the expense of salaries that are higher than the average for the city and Tatarstan, he said.
On April 2, the head of AvtoVAZ, Maxim Sokolov, said that the average localization level of Lada cars in Russia exceeds 90%. According to him, the classic Lada Niva Legend three-door SUV is localized in the country by almost 100%.
