The Kaliningrad Avtotor plant will set up production of Omoda C5 and Jetour T2 crossovers, the Russian-built models have already been certified and received the necessary documents. This was reported on April 8 by the Chinese Cars portal, which studied the Rosstandart database.

Vehicle Type Approval (OTT) has been issued for two companies that are part of Avtotor Holding. The documents for the Omoda C5 model additionally indicate the Onives brand: it is assumed that the Russian-built car will enter the market under a separate brand. Such a trademark was registered in the Russian Federation in August 2024.

It is noted that, as previously told by independent auto expert Oleg Moseev, the Kaliningrad plant did not agree on a contract assembly with Changan due to the long duration of the contract. At the same time, OTTs for C5 and T2 have been issued for a period of one year. It is assumed that at this stage Avtotor is interested in short-term cooperation formats.

At the end of March, Avtotor announced that it had completed the installation of a robotic welding line that allows the production of several body models on one platform. The production capacity of the line reaches 80 thousand bodies per year. It is possible that the new conveyor line is intended for Omoda C5 and Jetour T2, among others.

On April 1, it was reported that Avtotor had launched the assembly of Kaiyi X7 crossovers with an all-wheel drive system in pilot mode. It is claimed that it was developed specifically for the Russian market.
