- The State Duma adopted amendments on the exemption from conscription of volunteers who fought in the DPR and LPR

At a meeting on April 8, deputies of the State Duma approved an amendment to the law "On Military Duty and Military Service" on exemption from conscription of Russians who have participated in hostilities in the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics (DPR, LPR) for more than six months since May 2014.
"Citizens who have participated in military operations for at least six months since May 11, 2014, will be exempt from conscription," reads a publication on the website of the lower house of parliament.
The amendments also exempt Russians who have served in the Armed Forces of the DPR, military formations and bodies of the DPR and LPR or in the People's Militia of the LPR from conscription.
On March 31, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on spring conscription from April 1 to July 15. According to the documents, the decree concerns citizens of the Russian Federation aged 18 to 30 years. It is planned to call 160 thousand Russians.
