The Iranian authorities do not intend to hold direct talks with the United States after the completion of meetings with mediators in Oman. This was announced on April 8 by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi.

"The choice is due to the fact that we do not accept the option of negotiations when they (the United States. — Ed.) impose their point of view through threats and pressure. This is a dictate," the Irna news agency quoted him as saying on the Telegram channel.

Araqchi noted that mediation negotiations can ensure a constructive dialogue and prevent pressure on Iran from the United States.

On the same day, it was reported that Araqchi and the US President's special envoy for the Middle East, Stephen Witkoff, would be the main negotiators at the US-Iranian meeting in Oman, scheduled for Saturday, April 12. Oman's Foreign Minister Badr bin Hamad bin Hamoud al-Busaidi will also take part in the talks.

US President Donald Trump announced on April 7 that the American and Iranian sides are holding direct talks on the issue of Iran's nuclear issue. In addition, the American leader clarified that on Saturday, April 12, a large meeting "almost at the highest level" will be held between the United States and Iran.
