Founder of the Ashram of Shambhala sect (banned in Russia) Konstantin Rudnev was afraid of deportation to Montenegro, so he planned to obtain Argentine citizenship and go to Brazil to widely promote his ideas. Luis Vicat, the Commissioner-Inspector of the Argentine Police of Argentina, informed Izvestia about this on April 8.

"Rudnev's plan was to avoid being deported to Montenegro, where he is currently wanted. Having a son born in Argentina would allow him to obtain citizenship without having a residence permit, and then leave without hindrance to leave for Brazil through MERCOSUR. According to the investigation, Rudnev's final goal was to spread the sect widely in Brazil," he said.

According to Vikat, Rudnev was also detained by the companions of the head of the sect. It is noted that some had Colombian and Brazilian passports. Some of them were released with a ban on leaving the country, 13 people were arrested.

The Inspector Commissioner is convinced that Rudnev wanted to increase the number of victims of human trafficking, and Brazil, with its huge population, met his criteria.

"I think we are dealing with a criminal organization that only disguises itself as a sect. I can hardly believe that Rudnev is actually convinced that he came from the star Sirius," he concluded.

The Argentine authorities launched an investigation into the head of the sect after a pregnant Russian woman went to the hospital accompanied by two female companions, criminal journalist Federico Fashbender told Izvestia. He clarified that one of the women had crossed out her birth certificate in order to enter Rudnev's last name. In Argentina, this is regarded as a falsification of a government document.

The arrest of the head of the sect while trying to fly from the Argentine city of Bariloche to Brazil became known on March 31. Rudnev was accompanied by five Russian women and one Mexican woman. According to the TN portal, he attempted suicide during his arrest.

On April 5, Dmitry Feoktistov, the Russian Ambassador to Buenos Aires, said that the Russian Embassy in Argentina was monitoring the situation with the detention of Russian participants in the Ashram of Shambhala on suspicion of human trafficking.
