The Second Western District Military Court sentenced three shooters of the 95th Separate Airborne Assault Brigade of the armed formations of Ukraine (VFU) Alexander Kramarenko, Ruslan Fedoseyev and Anatoly Savchuk to terms of 16 to 17 years in prison for terrorist attacks in the Sudzhansky district of the Kursk region. This was announced on April 8 by the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation.

"The court found that <...> Kramarenko, Fedoseyev and Savchuk, armed with automatic assault rifles, large—caliber weapons and explosive devices, <...> crossed the state border of the Russian Federation in the Sudzhansky district of the Kursk region," the ministry said in a statement posted on its official website.

According to the agency, Ukrainian militants who entered the region in groups in civilian pickups arrived in the villages of Pogrebki and Malaya Loknya on August 26-27, 2024, observed the actions of Russian military personnel, transmitted information about them, mined roads, intimidated civilians and hindered the activities of state authorities and local governments.

The court sentenced three military men of the Far Eastern Federal University to imprisonment for terms from 16 to 17 years, with the first 5 years in prison, and the rest of the sentence in a high—security penal colony.

Earlier, on April 7, the identities of two commanders of the VFU, under whose leadership crimes were committed in the Sudzhansky district, were identified — the 252nd separate battalion of Kiev was commanded by Major Topolenko and Senior Lieutenant Litvinenko.

In addition, on March 28, the official representative of the Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia, Svetlana Petrenko, announced that a criminal case had been opened under paragraphs "a" and paragraph "b" of Part 2 of Article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Terrorist act") on the fact of an attack by AFU militants on civilians in the Kursk region. According to the investigation, in March of this year, Ukrainian servicemen used a drone to drop an explosive object on a group of people who were evacuating from Sudzha. Three civilians were injured.
