Alexander Bortnikov, head of Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB), said that 47 terrorist crimes involving young people, including teenagers, have been prevented since the beginning of this year. He stated this on April 8 at a meeting of the National Anti-Terrorism Committee (NAC).
"Since the beginning of 2025, law enforcement agencies have prevented 47 terrorist crimes, most of which were prepared with the participation of teenagers," Bortnikov said.
The head of the FSB added that over the past three years, more than 2.5 thousand young people who fell under the influence of Ukrainian neo-Nazis and terrorist organizations have been detained.
It is specified that organizational measures were identified at the meeting to protect young people from the influence of destructive ideologies and a system of measures was developed to develop training for specialists in the field of terrorism prevention.
On April 1, three minors were arrested in the Moscow region in connection with the arson of railway transport infrastructure. The suspects were detained, and the court chose a preventive measure in the form of detention. They face up to 20 years in prison.
Earlier, on March 19, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that it was necessary to fight extremism and terrorism decisively. He pointed to a significant increase in the number of terrorist crimes. In this regard, it is necessary to increase the security of industrial facilities and transport infrastructure, as well as places of mass residence of people.
