On April 8, American entrepreneur and billionaire Elon Musk called for the creation of a "pet mammoth" after the so-called "terrible wolves" or "direwolves", which became extinct more than 12 thousand years ago, were brought back to the United States.

"Please make a miniature domestic woolly mammoth," Musk wrote on his page on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

The day before, The New York Times reported that an American biotech company called Colossal Biosciences had resurrected a species of so-called "terrible wolves" that had become extinct more than 12,000 years ago, made famous by the television series Game of Thrones. As a result, three healthy wolves appeared — two males at the age of 6 months and one female at the age of 2 months, named Romulus, Remus and Khaleesi — who possess some of the traits of "terrible wolves."

It clarifies that the technology developed by the company can potentially help preserve species that have not yet become extinct, such as the endangered red wolves, whose range is mainly limited to the American state of North Carolina.

Earlier, on March 26, it was reported that scientists had discovered the largest preserved dinosaur claw in the Gobi Desert in Mongolia. Scientists suggest that its owner looked like a "bizarre mix" of a sloth and a giraffe. According to the researchers, this is the largest claw of its kind found completely intact. Presumably, the animal was about 3 m tall and weighed about 260 kg.
