The administration of US President Donald Trump has dismissed Vice Admiral of the US Navy Shoshanna Chatfield, who represents the country on the NATO military committee. This was reported on April 8 by the Reuters news agency, citing sources.

"US Navy Vice Admiral Shoshanna Chatfield, who holds a senior position in NATO, was fired as part of an apparently expanding purge of senior national security officials by the Trump administration," the material says.

It is noted that American allies have already been notified of personnel changes, but the Pentagon has not yet commented on the situation.

One source attributed Chatfield's dismissal to her commitment to diversity, equality and inclusivity (DEI) policies. In turn, the top Democrat on the Senate Armed Services Committee, Jack Reed, called the removal of the vice admiral from office unjustified and shameful.

Chatfield is one of the few female officers in the U.S. Navy with three stars, as well as the first woman to head the Naval War College.

On April 5, Reuters reported on the dismissal by the White House administration of General Timothy Ho from the post of director of the National Security Agency (NSA). He also heads the US Cyber Command. His deputy at the NSA, Wendy Noble, was also removed from office.
