One in five Russians surveyed said they intended to buy a cottage this year.

Among the surveyed residents of Russia, 45% own a cottage or a plot of land. Another 12% plan to rent a cottage or house for the summer season, and 17% are planning a purchase, according to the results of a Yandex Advertising survey, which was reviewed by Izvestia on April 8.

At the same time, 39% of respondents plan to repair their cottages this year. Of these, 70% will be engaged in cosmetic repairs of the cottage, 20% — capital repairs, and 31% — repairs of other premises on the site. Every third owner of a summer cottage plans to build something on his summer cottage this year.

"The peak of purchases of goods for construction will be in April — a third of users plan to be puzzled by the choice of materials at this time. On average, summer residents plan to spend 124 thousand rubles on construction and repairs this year. At the same time, 8% are ready to spend more than 300 thousand [rubles]. Users are willing to spend an average of 42 thousand [rubles] on goods for cottages and plots," said Levan Todua, industrial leader of the DIY category at Yandex Advertising.

The selection and purchase of repair products often takes place online. 43% of users start with the search bar, 41% search on online store sites, and 37% search in applications. According to experts, on average, 26 days pass from the start of the search to the purchase of goods for repair. During this time, a person visits about 13 sites and sets 21 search queries.
