The British Sea King helicopter, transferred to the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), crashed in the country. On April 8, RIA Novosti reported with reference to the decision of the Leninsky District Court of Nikolaev, posted in the Unified State Register.

It is noted that the incident occurred back in February.

"It was established from the petition and the materials attached to it that on February 22, 2025, at 12:48 p.m. after the Sea King Hu Mk-5 helicopter took off at an altitude of 5-7 m, the crew felt a significant vibration of the helicopter, and the aircraft began to rotate around its axis and lose altitude, which led to a collision of the aircraft with the earth's surface (location the fall is located at a distance of about 110 m from the landing site)," the message says.

As specified, the helicopter overturned during takeoff, it is badly damaged. Three crew members suffered minor and moderate injuries.

Earlier, on March 17, Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Mariana Bezuglaya reported that about half of the Ukrainian planes and helicopters of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) were shot down by their own air defense system. She recalled the case of F-16 pilot Alexei Mesy, who was shot down by his own air defense in 2024. Bezuglaya added that the results of the investigation were promised to be published six months ago, but this has not yet been done.
