Denis Klyaver called Ovechkin an athlete who glorifies the whole of Russia.

Singer Denis Klyaver congratulated Alexander Ovechkin, the forward of the Washington Capitals hockey club, who broke Wayne Gretzky's record for goals in the regular seasons of the National Hockey League (NHL), and noted that he glorifies the whole of Russia.

"I am very proud of Sasha, for the country, for the fact that this man was born here and now glorifies us all in everything. And most importantly, it's so nice that everyone adores him and his Russian language doesn't bother anyone," he said.

Ovechkin was also congratulated on his record by People's Artist of Russia Nikolai Baskov, who noted that he was an outstanding athlete.

"I congratulate Sasha from the bottom of my heart, because he is an outstanding great athlete. <...> Despite the fact that he plays as part of the American team, he is our outstanding Russian hockey player, and I wish him to achieve a record that no one has broken," said Baskov.

He added that he was the host at Ovechkin's wedding to his wife, Anastasia. Baskov said that it was an honor for him to lead their wedding and be directly involved in the formation of the hockey player's family.

The artists shared their emotions about the record of the legendary Russian hockey player.

Ovechkin scored his 895th goal in the NHL regular season on April 6 in a match against the New York Islanders. Thus, he broke the record of Canadian Gretzky, who scored 894 goals.

The Russian hockey player was congratulated on the record by the TV channels of the National Media Group and the leader of the group "Hands Up!" Sergey Zhukov. The performer dedicated a clip to the hockey player's favorite song from the repertoire of the musical group to the historical achievement with a modified text dedicated to the record goal.
