Makarov called Ovechkin a legend and the main motivator for many athletes.

Singer and showman Vyacheslav Makarov called the forward of the Washington Capitals hockey club Alexander Ovechkin, who broke Wayne Gretzky's record for goals in the regular seasons of the National Hockey League (NHL), a legend and a great athlete.
"He is a legend, actually a great athlete. I'm amazed at his physical abilities. He's just breaking records. It probably seems to me that some kind of otherworldly force helps him in this, and he came to this world to really show that he is a great athlete and to be looked up to," Makarov said.
He stressed that the Russian hockey player is the main motivator for a huge number of athletes.
Singer Danko, in turn, wished Ovechkin not to stop there and increase the number of goals scored. He also called this achievement a personal victory for the athlete.
"Let's wish him good luck, so that he can be the best with us. Russia, let's go!" added the artist Stas Mikhailov.
Ovechkin scored his 895th goal in the NHL regular season on April 6 in a match against the New York Islanders, breaking Gretzky's record of 894 goals scored.
The Russian hockey player was congratulated on the record by the TV channels of the National Media Group and Sergey Zhukov. The performer dedicated a clip to the hockey player's favorite song from the repertoire of the musical group to the historical achievement with a modified text dedicated to the record goal.
