- The Panamanian Foreign Ministry dismissed the ambassador to Russia two months after his appointment.

The Panamanian Foreign Ministry has decided to dismiss its ambassador to Russia, Holman Delbert Katlin Todd, just two months after his official appointment. This was reported on April 7 by the newspaper La Prensa with reference to the ministry.
As the newspaper pointed out, on February 10, the diplomat presented his credentials to Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov in Moscow, but suddenly received a notice of dismissal. The department stated that this position is appointed and dismissed at its discretion, so the resignation does not require a public explanation, the material says.
At the moment, the Panamanian Foreign Ministry does not disclose the specific reasons for the ambassador's resignation and does not announce who will temporarily serve as the head of the country's diplomatic mission in Russia. At the same time, the agency is expected to release additional details on measures in this situation in the coming days, the publication says.
In addition, the newspaper notes that the ministry's decision has raised questions in diplomatic circles, since Kathleen Todd is an experienced diplomat and has just started working in this position.
On March 25, Russian President Vladimir Putin confirmed Oleg Petrenko as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the state of Eritrea. Prior to that, on March 6, Putin appointed Alexander Darchiev, director of the North Atlantic Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry, as Russia's ambassador to the United States, who was also appointed permanent observer of Russia to the Organization of American States in Washington.
