- In Buryatia, 12 forest fires were recorded on an area of over 1.1 thousand hectares.

There are 12 fires on the territory of the forest fund in Buryatia on a total area of 1,138 hectares. This was announced on April 8 by the Republican Forestry Agency (RALH).
"According to operational data, on the morning of April 8, there are 12 foci (Yeravninsky, Kizhinginsky and Khorinsky districts) on a total area of 1,138 hectares. A forest fire in the Khorinsky district is localized on an area of 40 hectares," the ministry said in a statement.
It is also specified that over the past day, five fires were discovered in the forests of the republic, including in the Bichursky, Yeravninsky, Kizhinginsky and Kyakhtinsky districts. At the same time, fires were extinguished in Bichursky, Kurumkansky, Kyakhtinsky, Tunkinsky and Khorinsky districts on a total area of 76.4 hectares.
According to the agency, the cause of the fire was the transfer of fire from other categories of land and careless handling of fire. 337 people are involved in extinguishing fires, 73 units of forest fire fighting equipment are involved.
In addition, access to the forest is limited in Buryatia, as there is a special fire protection regime. There is no threat to human settlements.
The Governor of the Trans-Baikal Territory, Alexander Osipov, announced on April 7 that a regional emergency regime had been introduced in the region in connection with forest fires. According to him, almost all forest fires in Transbaikalia since the beginning of the year have been caused by humans. The governor stressed that the situation remains tense and called for the protection of the region's forests.
