During a telephone conversation, Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Belarusian counterpart Alexander Lukashenko discussed the cooperation of the special services of the two countries in the fight against terrorism. This was announced on April 7 by Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation.
"The heads of state discussed current issues of cooperation between the two countries. The topic of cooperation between the special services of Russia and Belarus in the fight against terrorism was also touched upon," the press secretary said during a conversation with reporters.
In addition, during the talks, the Russian president thanked Lukashenko for the fact that the Belarusian special services were able to detain a large shipment of explosives at the border and seize dangerous substances.
In addition, the Belarusian Foreign Ministry said that this operation is "a continuation of the consistent and responsible policy of Belarus to ensure the security of the all-Union borders." Putin also asked to convey his gratitude to the specialists who discovered the cargo of explosives.
The day before, the press service of the State Customs Committee of Belarus reported that the largest batch of explosives was seized at the Belarusian-Polish border. According to the committee, the 41-year-old driver tried to import 580 kg of particularly powerful explosives of foreign manufacture through the territory of Belarus into the Russian Federation.
