A criminal case has been opened into the attack on traffic police officers in the city of Achkhoy-Martan in the Chechen Republic. This was announced on Monday, April 7, by the press service of the investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the region.
"The investigative authorities of the investigative Department of the TFR in the Chechen Republic have opened a criminal case on the fact of an attempt on the life of law enforcement officers (Article 317 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation)," the Telegram channel said.
It was previously established that the attack took place at approximately 21:00 (local time, coincides with Moscow time) at the traffic police post. A local resident armed with a knife attacked the service staff, as a result of which the police were injured. The attacker was eliminated by return fire, the Investigative Committee clarified.
At the moment, investigators are conducting an inspection of the scene. The investigation of the criminal case is ongoing, the press service added.
An attack on a traffic police officer in Achkhoy-Martan was reported on April 7 by a source of Izvestia. According to him, as a result of the incident, a traffic police officer was stabbed. His condition is being clarified. It was noted that the attacker attacked a traffic police post in the city center. The attacker was eliminated.
