Robert De Niro receives honorary Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival

American actor and director Robert De Niro will receive a special Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival. This was announced on the festival's website on April 7.
It is specified that De Niro will receive his award on May 13, 2025 for his great contribution to cinema.
"I feel so close to the Cannes Film Festival <...> Especially now, when there are so many things in the world that divide us, Cannes unites us," he said when he heard about his award.
82-year-old Robert De Niro is best known for his work in crime dramas and thrillers, many of which have gained cult status. He has twice won the prestigious Oscar and Golden Globe film awards.
Earlier, on May 25, the film "Anora" directed by Sean Baker with the participation of Russian actors won the Palme d'Or at the 77th Cannes Film Festival. The winners' announcement ceremony was held at the Palace of Festivals. Actors Yuri Borisov and Mark Eidelstein played some of the main roles, Alexey Serebryakov and Yekamasova — episodic.
