- The Russian Embassy responded to statements by the British media about the threat to underwater communications.

UK media reports about the alleged threat to underwater communications from Russia are actually "fantastic stories." This was announced on April 7 at the Russian Embassy.
"A wave of hastily concocted fantastic stories about the "Russian threat" allegedly rushing to the British shores from the depths of the sea swept through the local press again. Fables about Russian scientific vessels and "yachts of oligarchs", supposedly working out military tasks, endless stories about cybercriminals who are trying to harm the British army, are mixed into one improbable pile," the message says.
The embassy noted that Russia has never threatened the security of the UK and its residents, while the British establishment escalates confrontation and creates hotbeds of tension.
"Even now, with their unsubstantiated slander in London, they are doing their best to prevent peaceful progress towards resolving the Ukrainian conflict, as well as emerging signs of improving Russian-American relations," the diplomats added.
According to the diplomatic mission, the UK is thus distracting attention from the worsening socio-economic problems in the country and trying to justify the increase in military spending.
On March 28, the Russian Embassy in the UK announced that the plans of London and Paris to deploy a military contingent of the "coalition of the willing" in Ukraine are designed to disrupt the process of peaceful settlement of the Ukrainian conflict. They noted that any plans that the British and French are preparing will ultimately have zero results. Russia does not accept the deployment of the Western military in Ukraine.
