There is unlikely to be a shortage of lemons in Russia due to the fact that Turkey is suspending their export. This opinion was expressed by Candidate of Economic Sciences, financial analyst Mikhail Belyaev on Monday, April 7.

Earlier in the day, the Turkish Ministry of Trade announced the suspension of lemon exports from April 8, the National News Service reports. It was noted that the relevant decision was made in coordination with the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry due to recent frosts in a number of regions of the state, according to the website. kp.ru . Another explanation for the measure is to maintain a balance of supply and demand in the domestic market.

According to Belyaev, there is no question of a shortage in Russia, since Turkey is far from the only producer of this citrus fruit. Lemons are grown both in Central Asia and in southern countries.

"We have sufficient contacts with the southern countries that grow them, and it is quite easy to get what Turkey does not supply," the economist said in an interview with Lenta.Ru .
