Trump has threatened China with additional duties of 50% since April 9.

US President Donald Trump has threatened to impose additional duties on goods from China in the amount of 50% from April 9 if China does not abandon retaliatory measures against US tariffs. He wrote about this on April 7 on the Truth Social network.
Thus, the American leader reacted to the retaliatory tariffs imposed by China in the amount of 34%.
"If China does not reverse its 34% increase, exceeding the already long-term trade abuses, by tomorrow, April 8, 2025, the United States will impose additional tariffs on China of 50%, starting on April 9. In addition, all negotiations with China regarding their requested meetings with us will be terminated!" the post says.
On April 2, Trump announced large-scale trade measures: base tariffs of 10% are being introduced for all products supplied to the United States. For the EU, this figure has been raised to 20%, and for China — to 34%. On April 4, China imposed duties of 34% against the United States.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian said on April 7 that the US abuse of duties is economic bullying, harming not only other countries, but also Washington itself. According to him, this seriously infringes on the legitimate rights and interests of other states, as well as violates the rules of the World Trade Organization (WTO).
