The surviving icons from the Sudzhansky district were brought to Kursk for storage

The surviving icons from an Orthodox church in the village of Zamostye, Sudzhansky district, were brought to Kursk for storage. Igor Vasyukov, assistant head of the military department of the Kursk Diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church, told Izvestia on April 7.
"All the icons, yes, as they were, we rearranged very carefully. So I looked at it. In the condition in which we took them, we brought them here," he said.
In total, about 30 works were taken out, including icons of the Mother of God, St. Sergius of Radonezh and St. Nicholas the Wonderworker with relics.
Alexander Khinshtein, Acting Governor of the Kursk region, thanked the priests for their dedication. He also asked them not to put themselves in danger.
"We have a lot of work ahead of us. Temples will have to be restored and people will have to be returned," he said.
The removed icons will be kept in the Resurrection Church of the regional center.
On the same day, Khinstein said that the authorities of the Kursk region had a lot of work to do to restore the border settlements liberated from the Ukrainian Armed Forces. According to him, before the start of restoration work, all settlements will be checked by sappers.
