Bitcoin's decline below the psychological mark of $75,000 is not just a correction, but a consequence of macroeconomic and geopolitical factors that can form a long—term trend. Ilya Sivoplyas, head of the WhiteBird crypto platform's exchange trading department, told Izvestia on April 7.

"Such significant movements often set the direction of the market for a long time. Take at least the example of November 2024, when bitcoin was near the $70,000 mark, and then confidently rushed up, reaching a historical record of $109,000 after the victory of US President Donald Trump," the expert said.

According to him, the situation is aggravated by "Black Monday", which led to a significant drop in both the crypto market and traditional stock markets. Hong Kong stock exchanges lost 11%, Japanese and Chinese — 8% each, and European indexes started with a 4% drop. These indicators clearly indicate a massive withdrawal of capital from high-risk assets.

"An equally worrying factor is that the first quarter of 2025 was the weakest for bitcoin since 2015, showing an 11.7% drop. The situation is even worse for altcoins: Ethereum dropped below 0.020 BTC, and the total market capitalization excluding BTC, ETH and stablecoins decreased by 28%," said Sivoplyas.

According to the expert, in the coming weeks there is a possibility of checking the level of $ 70 thousand, especially if the pressure on the markets remains high. At the same time, improved macroeconomic indicators, such as employment and inflation data, may contribute to a return to the range of $80-85 thousand.

"Despite the negative forecasts, the crypto market has the potential to recover if global risks begin to weaken. In the meantime, a high level of volatility remains, market participants need to be prepared for everything and carefully evaluate their investment steps," concluded Sivoplyas.

Earlier, on March 23, the director of communications of the cryptocurrency exchange exmo.me Mikhail Smirnov, in an interview with Izvestia, gave tips on recognizing crypto scams. According to him, phishing is one of the most common and dangerous cyber fraud schemes in the crypto industry. It is phishing attacks that cause the loss of funds in most cases. Attackers fake the website of a popular crypto exchange or wallet and distribute a link to it via email, instant messengers or advertising.
