Sweden refused to supply chicken eggs to the United States because of Easter

Sweden has refused a request from the United States to supply chicken eggs to the American market due to the approaching Easter. This was reported on April 7 by Sveriges Radio.
"During Easter, we are almost doubling our egg consumption, and right now we want to keep Swedish eggs in Sweden," the publication quoted the head of the industry organization Svenska ägg ("Swedish Eggs"). Marie Lenneskug Hogstadius.
It is emphasized that another reason for the refusal was the slow recovery of laying hens, which also complicates the sharp increase in egg exports.
On April 4, The New York Times wrote that chicken eggs have become so expensive in the United States that some residents of the country are going to replace them with potatoes and onions for Easter, which will be painted in different colors.
On March 2, US President Donald Trump rejected accusations that the price of chicken eggs had increased significantly during the first week of his rule in the country. He noted that he had just taken office at that time and could not in any way influence the situation with prices for this product.
CNN reported on January 14 that U.S. citizens were faced with a shortage of eggs due to avian flu. It was specified that the restoration of stability in the food market in the country may take from six to nine months. In addition, the shortage has led to higher prices for eggs. On February 7, it became known that amid the shortage, stores in the United States imposed restrictions on the purchase of eggs.
