At the Movistar half Marathon in Madrid, two runners had a cardiac arrest, one of them died. This was reported by the newspaper El Pais on April 7.

It is specified that they encountered cardiac arrest a few meters from the finish line. One of the athletes died in La Paz hospital, the second man is under medical supervision.

A representative of the Samur Civil protection service said that 50 more runners had been helped. Most of the victims suffered injuries such as sprains or dislocations. Cases of heat exhaustion have also been reported.

In total, up to 27,000 runners took part in the half marathon.

On January 23, Alexander Nikishin, captain of the St. Petersburg hockey club SKA, suffered a concussion in a Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) regular season match with Lokomotiv Yaroslavl. After falling as a result of a collision with an opponent, the hockey player could not get up.
