Water transport routes discussed in Moscow

A round table on river transport of the capital was held in Moscow, which was attended by deputies of the Moscow City Duma, representatives of the Moscow Department of Transport and shipping companies, the press service of the organizers of the event said.

The participants of the meeting, which took place on board the electric vessel, discussed the development of Moscow river transport, including the launch of the third route of regular river electric transport "Novospassky — ZIL".

"The third river route, the launch of which was announced by Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, will significantly improve transport accessibility for residents of four districts of the city. By 2030, almost the entire water area of the Moskva River will be covered by passenger traffic. Moscow will become a real center for the development and use of river electric transport," said Sabina Tsvetkova, Chairman of the MHD Commission on Transport.

The participants of the round table also summed up the work of river electric vessels in winter: the transport traveled almost 120 thousand km and made more than 12.5 thousand flights. This winter, passenger traffic increased by more than 93% compared to the same period last year.

In addition to the regular passenger fleet, 17 pleasure craft plied the Moskva River in winter.

As Maxim Liksutov, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport and Industry, said earlier, regular river electric vessels have successfully operated for the second winter. The most popular berths during this period were "Kievsky", "Heart of the Capital", "City Central", "ZIL" and "Pechatniki".
