On April 7, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law according to which it became possible to employ teenagers over the age of 14 on weekends and non-working holidays during the summer holidays. The relevant document has been published on the portal of legal acts.

"An employer has the right to involve employees between the ages of 14 and 18 to work on weekends and non—working holidays, carried out during the summer holidays at the direction of the employment service or as part of student groups included in the federal or regional register of youth and children's associations that enjoy state support," the document says.

Teenagers aged 15 and over will be able to work on holidays and weekends with a written consent. Also, children under the specified age will be able to start working with the written consent of one of his parents.

The new law will enter into force on September 1, 2025.

Earlier, on March 25, it became known about the adoption in the second and third readings of a draft law, according to which employers will have the right to employ children aged 14-18 on weekends during the holidays at the plenary session of the State Duma (State Duma). As Artyom Metelev, chairman of the State Duma Committee on Youth Policy, noted, children should not be hindered in their desire to earn extra money in the summer.
