Matvienko called the conversation with the President of Uzbekistan meaningful.

On April 7, Chairman of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko spoke about an open and meaningful conversation with President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and called the Russian Federation and Uzbekistan true allies.
Matvienko said that she conveyed greetings from Russian President Vladimir Putin to Mirziyoyev and congratulated the Uzbek leader on holding the anniversary Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union. Today, Uzbekistan plays an important role in the international arena, noted the Chairman of the Federation Council.
"We discussed the bilateral agenda. <...> Russia and Uzbekistan are true allies. When each other's interests are taken into account, when there are common plans, they are big, huge," Matvienko said.
According to her, 155 companies in Uzbekistan work with Russian capital, and the volume of mutual trade is growing annually. The heads of state set a goal to reach a trade turnover of $30 billion by 2030, the Federation Council Chairman stressed.
"This is very important: everything that our presidents agree on is being implemented. This is not just an intention, this is not just some kind of memorandum, this is a concrete decision of the two leaders, which is immediately implemented in the interests of both the peoples of Russia and the peoples of Uzbekistan," Matvienko added.
It is specified that during the meeting Mirziyoyev confirmed his participation in the celebration of the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War in Moscow on May 9.
In February, Putin and Mirziyoyev noted the expansion of humanitarian cooperation in the fields of culture, art, science and education of the Russian Federation and Uzbekistan. In addition, the leaders of the two countries exchanged views on issues on the international agenda and discussed the schedule of upcoming events.
