- The Russian Foreign Ministry stressed the importance of a neutral position in the work of WHO

The Russian Foreign Ministry noted that it is necessary to strengthen trust between countries in the work of the World Health Organization (WHO) to improve the health of the world's population. This was announced on April 7 by the press service of the department.
"Russia considers it extremely important that the Organization's activities remain depoliticized, scientifically based and meet the interests of all Member States. The Russian Federation is ready to continue to make a commensurate contribution to the development of multilateral cooperation and the renewal of the global healthcare architecture, based on the principles of fairness, mutual respect and equality," the ministry said in a statement posted on its website.
In addition, the Russian Foreign Ministry called for avoiding double standards in order to strengthen the healthcare system of all countries. According to the agency, in modern conditions, the importance of WHO is growing due to the spread of infectious and non-communicable diseases.
Earlier, on February 3, WHO launched Ebola virus vaccination trials in Uganda. The organization said it will continue to support the government to control the outbreak.
