Tenders for the restoration of Chekhov's house have been announced in the Sakhalin Region. The initial cost of the contract is 62.8 million rubles.
The Chekhov and Sakhalin Historical and Literary Museum is located in Alexandrovsk-Sakhalinsky. According to SakhalinMedia news agency, the writer lived and worked in the house from July to October 1890 during a trip to the island.
The contractor will have to replace heating, lighting, and engineering systems. In addition, wall repairs and partial replacement of floor elements, roof and lower wall rims will be required. It is also planned to insulate the base of the foundation, arrange the porch, as well as pipes for ventilation. Decorative elements and shutters will be updated on the facades.
The auction will be held on April 11.
