Kirkorov was late for the stage because of Ovechkin's record‑breaking goal

Singer Philip Kirkorov told reporters that he was late for the stage because of the record goal of the Russian forward of the Washington Capitals hockey club Alexander Ovechkin in the regular season of the National Hockey League (NHL).
According to the artist, the athlete is a world legend and his great friend.
"Just before [going out to perform], I was even a little late for the stage — I watched the match as he scored this goal, <...> it's just brilliant," Kirkorov said on April 6.
Alexander Ovechkin scored his 895th goal in the NHL regular season on April 6 against the New York Islanders, breaking the record of four-time Stanley Cup winner Wayne Gretzky, who scored 894 goals.
The TV channels of the National Media Group (NMG) holding and the performer, the leader of the Hands Up! group, Sergey Zhukov, congratulated Ovechkin on the world record with a clip for his favorite song from the repertoire of the musical group. The video features the famous track "I'm already 18" with lyrics specially written by Zhukov for the record goal.
