- The Federal Antimonopoly Service has asked PVC manufacturers for reasons for changing product prices

The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) has sent inquiries to polyvinyl chloride (PVC) manufacturers about the reasons for the price changes, the service said on April 7.
"The service conducts monthly monitoring of the production, sale and cost of petrochemical products. In order to prevent violations of antimonopoly legislation, the FAS of Russia has sent letters to JSC Sayanskkhimplast, JSC BSK and JSC Caustic in order to exclude unjustified price increases for polyvinyl chloride (PVC)," the FAS explained.
In addition, the agency advises manufacturers to develop and coordinate with the Federal Antimonopoly Service of Russia trade strategies for the sale of PVC. These strategies should include the priority of the domestic market, pricing rules, and a ban on economically and technologically unjustified refusals to conclude contracts with buyers.
The service also pointed out that companies need to inform their distributors about the need to comply with the principles of responsible PVC pricing.
Last year, on October 22, Alexander Gerwald, Candidate of Chemical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of KHTVMS at RTU MIREA, reported that PVC-coated linoleum is capable of provoking the development of oncological diseases. According to him, the most dangerous in the composition are phthalates, which can be released directly during the use of PVC products. They cause liver and kidney dysfunction and cancer, Herwald said.
