- Hungary pointed to the undermining of the EU's competitiveness by the inept policy of Brussels

Brussels' inept security and economic policies have severely undermined the competitiveness of the European Union (EU). This was announced on April 7 by Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto.
"As a result of Brussels' inept security and economic policies, the EU's competitiveness has significantly decreased in recent years," he wrote on Facebook (owned by the recognized extremist Meta company, its activities are banned in the Russian Federation).
According to him, Brussels has put European companies in a difficult position by "unnecessarily politicizing economic issues."
Szijjarto stressed that the European Commission (EC) was unable to establish customs cooperation with the United States after the imposition of duties on Chinese electric vehicles, which were opposed by European countries. At the same time, he noted that the decision had never been difficult, and in the event of a reduction in duties on the automotive industry, "everyone would benefit."
The Hungarian Foreign Minister added that he expects explanations about the current policy of the European Commission at a meeting of EU foreign ministers on April 7.
On April 2, US President Donald Trump signed a decree imposing 25% import duties on finished cars from April 3, and on auto parts no later than May 3. Trump justified this measure by the need to protect "national security." Later, Bloomberg reported that the European Union was preparing a package of emergency measures to support the sectors of the economy that could be most affected by the imposition of duties by Washington.
