Joint military exercises of Russia and Tajikistan have started

The armed forces of Russia and Tajikistan have launched joint military exercises on the territory of the republic. This was announced on April 7 by the Russian Defense Ministry.

"The contingents of the two countries will work out the organization of the use of Armed Forces to destroy terrorist gangs, training units to perform their tasks in mountainous terrain," the ministry said.

Vyacheslav Khlestov, the Defense attache at the Russian Embassy in Tajikistan, stressed at the launch ceremony that the exercises would help to test the accumulated experience in practice, work out various scenarios and develop a unified approach to conducting combat operations in difficult conditions.

The Ministry of Defense said that the main stage of the exercises will be the conduct of a joint operation to eliminate illegal armed groups, as well as the management of units during the protection of the state border and the destruction of armed groups that have broken through.

The Russian military contingent is based on units of the 201st Russian military base: mountain, motorized rifle, tank, artillery, reconnaissance units, as well as crews of the aviation group on Mi-24 attack helicopters and Mi-8MTV5-1 transport and combat helicopters.

It is specified that operators of various types of drones and mobile electronic warfare groups will participate in the exercises. The active phase of the exercises will be held from April 7 to 11.
