The Russian Academy of Sciences told about the most common mistake on the "Total Dictation — 2025"

In Total Dictation 2025, the most common mistake was writing with capital and small letters. This was stated by Vladimir Pakhomov, Chairman of the Philological Council of Total Dictation, researcher at the V.V. Vinogradov Institute of the Russian Language of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Scientific Secretary of the Spelling Commission of the Russian Academy of Sciences, at the Izvestia press center on April 7 during the press conference "Total Dictation - 2025: the results of the campaign."

According to him, the text turned out to be difficult for the participants, and the most common mistake was writing the phrase "Greenland Sea" with a small letter.

"We decided to take this error out of the error count," Pakhomov said.

The educational campaign "Total Dictation" will be held in early April.

Pakhomov clarified that some of the participants capitalized words such as "world", "planet", "northern lights". He also noted that many participants misused quotation marks.

On March 19, Russian Minister of Education Sergey Kravtsov announced that the Eurasian Association for the Support of the Russian Language was being formed in Russia, which would become a platform for its promotion. According to him, this is also an important step in cooperation with friendly countries not only in Eurasia, but also in many countries of Latin America and Africa.
