- The "Total Dictation" campaign was held in the editorial office of Vechernaya Moskva

On Saturday, April 5, the XXI All-Russian educational campaign "Total Dictation" was held in the capital. According to a long-standing tradition, the editorial office of Evening Moscow has become one of the literacy testing sites. The text about the expedition to Svalbard by the Yasnaya Polyana Prize finalist, writer Marina Moskvina, was read by theater and film actress, People's Artist of the RSFSR, leading actress of the E.B. Vakhtangov Theater Irina Kupchenko.
The dictation participants wrote the third part of the large text "In Search of the Miraculous," which is called "The Road of Swans." The organizers of the dictation found this text poetic and punctuation difficult.
"Punctuation marks indicate emotional states that occur during pauses in speech. They carry a very different semantic meaning. And it is important that the child develops punctuation intuition during the learning process," Irina Kupchenko said.
The actress added that she considers "Total Dictation" and similar projects to be necessary and in demand today.
"They help preserve our language, our speech. And speech is what supports historical self—awareness, a sense of oneself as a part of the people. The language is blurring today, now few people respond to the message "thank you" or "I appreciate you very much," mostly they send emoticons. The younger generation has stopped writing by hand, and this is also an important part of the existence and preservation of the language. After all, when a language is lost, a nation disappears," Kupchenko said.
Also, students of the Shchukin Theater Institute joined the action held within the walls of Evening Moscow.
