Phone scammers stole more than 1 million rubles from a pensioner in Pushkino

Employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia detained in the city of Pushkino, Moscow region, an accomplice of telephone fraudsters who stole more than 1 million rubles from a pensioner. This was announced on April 7 by the main directorate (GU) of the Russian Department for the region.
It is specified that the 79-year-old man received a call from intruders who introduced themselves as employees of state institutions. They said that a power of attorney had been issued in his name for a citizen of Ukraine who could represent his interests and manage his finances. To protect their savings, the scammers recommended transferring money to a "secure account." The pensioner, following the instructions, sent them more than 1 million rubles. Later, the scammers called again, asking to cash out another 1.4 million rubles and transfer them to the courier. Having guessed about the deception, the pensioner contacted the police, and after handing over the dummy money, the courier was detained.
"An investigator from the investigative department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs has opened a criminal case on this fact under Article 30, Part 4, Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation," the agency's Telegram channel says.
The accomplice of the fraudsters was taken into custody. Police officers are establishing the circumstances of the incident and other accomplices of the crime.
On April 1, a man was detained in Novosibirsk, who stole more than 3 million rubles of savings from a pensioner in Krasnoyarsk and transferred the money to accomplices. It was noted that the man already had a criminal record. It was established that he managed to transfer almost the entire amount through the cryptocurrency exchange office, he left only 90 thousand rubles for himself. A criminal case has been opened on this fact under Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Fraud").
