A maniac attacked children with a meat cleaver in New York

In New York, a man attacked his underage relatives using a meat cleaver as a weapon. This was reported on April 6 by the New York Post.
"Police arrived at the house on 84th Street around 10:15 a.m. after one of the victims, an injured 11-year-old girl— locked herself in a room and called 911, telling the dispatcher that her uncle had stabbed her and her siblings," the newspaper informs.
Arriving at the scene, the guards heard screams coming from the front door of the house. The police had to break down the door to get inside the room.
"When they entered, they encountered a man standing at the entrance with a large meat cleaver covered in blood, and they saw blood on the floor of the house. The officers ordered the man to drop his weapon several times. He refused and moved towards them," Jessica Tisch, NYPD Commissioner, clarified the details.
After that, two law enforcement officers shot at the man, firing a total of seven bullets. The 49-year-old attacker was captured and taken to a medical facility, where his condition was assessed as critical.
As a result of his actions, four girls aged 8, 11, 13 and 16 received stab wounds. They have been given the necessary help, and it is expected that all of them will survive.
"I was looking out the window, and [the victim] came out covered in blood. And then there was another girl. Both girls were just covered in blood...> I don't usually see them. They just moved here," said Maria, a neighbor of the victims.
The motives of the attacker are currently being investigated.
Earlier, on March 14, a man who attacked a subway employee with a knife was detained in Moscow. The attacker took an object similar to a knife out of his pocket and began waving it in front of the security service inspector, expressing threats to life and health. The witnesses tried to calm the violator and called the police. The patrol officers who arrived at the scene detained the suspect. It turned out to be a 41-year-old resident of the capital.
