A criminal indictment was approved against the 43-year-old culprit of the accident, during which the pensioner was seriously injured. This was announced on April 7 by the press service of the Khabarovsk Territory Prosecutor's Office in the Telegram channel.
The accident occurred in October 2024 in the city of Komsomolsk-on-Amur. Then the defendant in the case, being in a state of drug intoxication, decided to give his 89-year-old grandmother a ride in a car, but during the movement he lost control and flew into a pole. As a result, the pensioner suffered severe leg injuries.
"He is charged under paragraph "a" of Part 2 of Article 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (violation of traffic rules that negligently caused serious harm to human health)," the department said.
It is specified that the defendant admitted his guilt. He could face up to seven years in prison.
On April 6, a case was opened into an accident involving two dead pedestrians near Novosibirsk. It was established that the day before, at about 21:30 local time (17:30 Moscow time), a woman born in 1988 in a Lada Granta car hit two female pedestrians born in 1986 and 2003. The injuries of the victims turned out to be incompatible with life.
