KHL commentator Gimaev Jr. congratulated Ovechkin on his world record

On April 7, Sergei Gimaev Jr., a commentator of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) and a former player of the Dynamo hockey club, congratulated Alexander Ovechkin, the Russian striker and captain of the Washington Capitals, who broke the sniper record of Canadian Wayne Gretzky in the regular championships of the National Hockey League (NHL).
"Who better than you, with your determination, with your thirst for victories, your thirst for goals scored, who better than you could break this record. So once again, Sasha, congratulations, I'm proud to have played with you on the same team. And he saw everything perfectly well.: the way you feel about hockey and how you went to such great achievements," he said.
Gimaev Jr. noted that now Gretzky's eternal record will proudly bear the name of Ovechkin's record.
On April 6, the Russian striker said that he considers it important for him to set a new National Hockey League (NHL) record for goals. According to him, he is optimistic about this moment, because "finally no one will ask" him when the previous record of Canadian Wayne Gretzky of 894 goals will be beaten.
Ovechkin scored his 895th goal in the NHL regular season on April 6 against the New York Islanders, breaking the record of the four-time Gretzky Cup winner.
