The institution of the Commissioner for animal protection and the corresponding position may appear in Russia. The bill was sent for review by Dmitry Gusev, first deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on Control, representing the Fair Russia — For Truth party.

"This bill proposes to establish the post of Commissioner for animal Protection at the Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Russian Federation," RIA Novosti quotes a fragment of an explanatory note to the bill.

It is planned that the commissioner will be required to monitor interaction with veterinary organizations and similar services, as well as interact with the government in the field of responsible animal treatment.
