It is alleged that in a telephone conversation with an employee of the news agency, an unnamed government representative clarified that this issue was planned to be included in the agenda of tomorrow's meeting of the State Council. The date will be officially confirmed at the same time.

"According to the Constitution and the Law on the Election of Civil Servants, presidential elections must be held within 60 days from the day following the day the Constitutional Court approves the impeachment of the president, and the election date must be announced at least 50 days in advance," Yonhap reminds.

The situation in South Korea worsened on December 3 last year after the president declared martial law, which was caused by the threat of paralysis of power that arose due to attempts to conduct impeachment proceedings.
